(keep the funk alive)
Keep The Funk Alive is an internal dance jam organised by NUS Funkstyles. With the idea of having an event for members and alumnus of the University club to gather and reconnect.
Logo
Integrating elements from the stylings of the brand into a hand written font utilising markers to draw slight connections to the look of graffiti and street culture.
Fonts
Font selections were based on the logo, picking one that resembled the look of the logo closely. Font for the body text was a simple but bold one to match the energy of the event.
Stylings
Basking everything in the glow of orange and red against the black, gives of a feeling of the sunsetting and the night beginning.
The stroke and patterns lending to a disco/groovy feel.
The illustrations done for this project were centered around the event being a dance jam and the idea of unity. As such, elements were very dance centric with the dancer and disco ball. The colours and stylings were applied for the visuals to match the overall look of the branding.
The Dancer
The dancer is one of the central elements of the illustrations. Evoking a similar look to the logo, it is drawn traditionally using a marker with similar strokes. The replicated use of the dancer as a pattern builds upon the idea of everyone coming together as a group.
Event Shirt
The event shirt was designed around the central idea of unity and as such takes a circular form structured around the disco ball. The repeated use of the dancer pattern around the disco ball resonates with the idea of everyone gathering together for the love of dance.
